What it is
Ti is not satisfied with 'everyone says so': any conclusion that enters Ti's territory must first pass through its own logical security check — is the definition precise? Does the premise hold? Are there gaps in the reasoning? It is not looking for the answer that authority provides, but for the answer it has worked out itself.,This gives Ti-strong people a quality of quiet exactingness in a crowd: they say little, but when they do speak, it tends to land on the weakest link in someone else's argument. In their minds, there is an ongoing construction project — a logical architecture, each brick personally tested before it is placed.
What it lets you do
No function is a single skill — each is a set of abilities that reinforce one another. Strong {code} users tend to hold several of these keys at once.
Framework Construction — Dismantling knowledge to its smallest components and reassembling them into a self-consistent system — Ti learns slowly at first, but once the framework is built, the depth of understanding far exceeds rote retention.
Precise Definition — Extremely careful about the edges of concepts: what exactly does this word mean, and where does it differ from adjacent concepts? Vague formulations have nowhere to hide in front of Ti.
Multi-Path Verification — The habit of running the same problem down several different routes and cross-checking the results. Logical holes and contradictions are something Ti is typically the first to find.
First-Principles Inquiry — Refuses to accept 'it's always been done this way' — pursues every question down to first principles. Many things taken as convention, under Ti's questioning, turn out to have never been thought through by anyone.
Original Solutions — Because it doesn't rely on existing templates, Ti regularly derives entirely new solutions from underlying principles — many brilliant moves in engineering, science, chess, and programming originate here.
When Ti is developed
Thorough analysis — can take a complex problem to its root

When imbalanced or undeveloped
Too much analysis, not enough action
Gets pedantic regardless of context — can wound without realizing it
Under stress, becomes coldly critical and treats people as arguments to be won
When underdeveloped, thinking becomes disorganized and easily led astray by plausible-sounding nonsense
Mirror function — Te
Both are Thinking, but Ti faces inward while Te faces out: Ti cares about 'thinking it through correctly'; Te cares about 'getting it done.' Ti is willing to spend three more days on a system to make it elegant; Te thinks the serviceable answer should already be running.
Tandem function — Fe
In every function stack, Ti and Fe always appear as a pair: one end seeking truth inward, the other tending to people outward. For those strong in Ti, borrowing some of Fe's warmth of expression is what makes the reasoning actually heard.
